Criteria for Admission
Professional Alignment
Applicants should be professionals or students working in fields connected to musculoskeletal infections. This includes, but is not limited to, orthopaedics, infectious diseases, microbiology, pharmacy, nursing, allied health professions, and other relevant clinical, scientific, or industry specialties.
Motivation and Interest
Candidates should demonstrate a genuine interest in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal infections. This may be reflected through prior experience, current professional responsibilities, academic involvement, or a clear motivation to contribute to the work of BAJIS.
Commitment to BAJIS Objectives
Applicants are expected to align with the society’s aims, including advancing research, supporting high‑quality education in bone and joint infections, and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration across the field.
Reference by an Existing Member
A reference from a current BAJIS member may be requested, particularly in cases where additional assurance is needed regarding the suitability or relevance of an application.
Professional Alignment
BAJIS welcomes applicants from a wide spectrum of backgrounds and does not require a specific degree for membership. The society is committed to fostering a diverse, multidisciplinary community dedicated to advancing the understanding and management of musculoskeletal infections. Professionals, academics, and students from the following fields, among others, are encouraged to apply:
Medical Specialties:
Including but not limited to orthopaedics, infectious diseases, microbiology, plastic surgery, radiology, and traumatology.
Nursing:
Individuals involved in clinical care, research, or education related to musculoskeletal health or infection management.
Allied Health Professionals:
A broad group including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and other practitioners who contribute to the care, rehabilitation, and wellbeing of patients with bone and joint infections.
Pharmacy:
Clinical pharmacists, antimicrobial stewardship specialists, and researchers working in pharmacology or therapeutics relevant to infection prevention, diagnosis, or treatment.
Academics and Researchers:
Those engaged in research, teaching, or scholarly activity related to musculoskeletal infections or associated scientific and clinical fields.
Industry Professionals:
Individuals working in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices, digital health, or other industry sectors contributing to innovation, product development, or solutions relevant to musculoskeletal infection care.
Others with Relevant Interest or Experience:
BAJIS recognises that valuable insight and commitment can come from many backgrounds. Applicants whose roles do not fall neatly into the categories above, but who have a genuine interest or experience in musculoskeletal infections, are warmly encouraged to apply.
